WE ARE ALL LEARNERS.

       Teaching Philosophy Summary:

As a lifelong and imperfect learner, I continue to grow and learn. My teaching philosophy is rooted from a combination of interpretivist/constructivist paradigm and Biggs’ theory of Constructive Alignment that is guided by the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics. Three principles shape my teaching: 1) strive to cultivate an inclusive, safe, and brave space where each individual can speak, be heard, be supported and be challenged; 2) cultivate learning through a collective process between the students and the educator; 3) challenge students to think critically and engage in self-reflection. I seek to provide a transformative experience for all individuals using a combination of strategies like creative in-class activities, technology applications, and connecting with practice knowledge. I seek to challenge students to think critically, engage in reflection, be open to learning new concepts, and to use their knowledge to make this world a safer and more equitable place.
